GAIL (India) Limited has officially announced the appointment of Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma as an Additional Director (Projects) to its Board of Directors. This significant appointment was approved by the company’s Board during its meeting held on 18.09.2026. Shri Sharma’s tenure as Director (Projects) will commence from the date he assumes charge of his new role and will continue until his superannuation, scheduled for 30.04.2031, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.
Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma’s Extensive Experience
Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma is a seasoned professional with over three decades of distinguished experience in the dynamic oil and gas sector. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. His expertise spans the entire hydrocarbon value chain, including design and engineering, project management, procurement, construction management, and operations and maintenance of crude oil, petroleum products, LPG, and natural gas pipeline networks. He also has significant experience with strategically important crude oil terminal projects.
Leadership Roles and Contributions
Prior to this appointment, Shri Sharma served as the Executive Director and Regional Head of the Eastern Region Pipelines at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). In this capacity, he was instrumental in leading operations and maintenance, construction, and city gas distribution businesses across five states, managing an extensive pipeline network exceeding 5,700 km. He also held the position of Executive Director (Projects) in IOCL’s Pipelines Division, overseeing engineering, procurement, and construction management for major oil, LPG, and natural gas pipeline projects globally.
Shri Sharma has also contributed to strategic governance and sectoral development by serving on the Boards of GSPL India Transco Limited (GITL), GSPL India Gasnet Limited (GIGL), and Kochi Salem Pipeline Private Limited (KSPPL) as a Nominee Director representing IOCL. His extensive leadership experience, coupled with a proven track record in project execution, business development, and operational excellence, positions him as a valuable asset to GAIL’s growth and transformation initiatives in the energy sector.
