Fortis Healthcare: Acquires Suguna Hospital for ₹277 Crores

Fortis Healthcare Limited has successfully acquired Suguna Ramaiah Hospitals Private Limited (Suguna) and its associated land and building for approximately ₹277 Crores. This strategic move, executed through its subsidiary International Hospital Limited, aims to bolster Fortis’s presence in Bengaluru’s North-West corridor, aligning with its cluster-focused growth strategy. The acquisition is expected to enhance the company’s network, operational capacity, and revenue streams in a key market.

Fortis Healthcare Expands Bengaluru Presence with Major Acquisition

Fortis Healthcare Limited (FHL) announced the consummation of a significant transaction involving the acquisition of the entire business and operations of Suguna Ramaiah Hospitals Private Limited (“Suguna”), along with its land and building. The deal, valued at approximately INR 277 Crores, was completed on October 28, 2026, through FHL’s wholly-owned subsidiary, International Hospital Limited (IHL).

Strategic Rationale and Deal Structure

The acquisition is a key component of Fortis Healthcare’s cluster-focused inorganic growth strategy, aimed at strengthening its network in Bengaluru. Suguna Hospital, a 110-bedded tertiary-care facility located in Rajajinagar, North-West Bengaluru, possesses the potential to scale up to 150 beds. This move consolidates Fortis’s position in the micromarket, complementing its existing presence, including the People Tree Hospital acquired earlier this year. The transaction was structured as an all-cash deal, comprising a business transfer agreement for Suguna’s operations and a sale deed for the property.

Financial and Operational Impact

Suguna Hospital reported revenues of approximately INR 50 Crores in FY26. The acquisition is expected to enhance Fortis’s revenue streams and operational capacity in Bengaluru, where the company now aims to have approximately 1000 operational beds across its facilities. The company plans investments in upgrading medical infrastructure, expanding clinical programs, and increasing bed capacity at the acquired facility, leveraging its brand presence and expertise to improve performance.
