Eicher Motors Limited Announces New Greenfield Capacity Expansion in Andhra Pradesh

Eicher Motors Limited has announced a major Greenfield capacity expansion initiative following the approval of a 215.7-acre land parcel in Tada, Andhra Pradesh. This strategic move aims to support the company’s long-term growth prospects. The investment, estimated at up to Rs. 2,500 crore, will be funded through internal accruals, with final plans subject to approval by the Board of Directors in upcoming meetings.

Strategic Manufacturing Expansion

Eicher Motors Limited is set to significantly bolster its manufacturing footprint. The company currently operates with an existing capacity of approximately 14.6 lakh motorcycle units per year, which is currently operating near full utilization. With previously announced brownfield projects already in the pipeline, total capacity is expected to reach 20 lakh units annually across all Tamil Nadu plants by the end of FY 2027-28. This new Greenfield expansion represents the next phase of the company’s growth strategy.

Project Details and Financials

The expansion is supported by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, which has allocated a 215.7-acre site in Tada for the project. While the comprehensive development plan is still under finalization by the Board of Directors, the initial capital expenditure for the initiative is estimated at up to Rs. 2,500 crore. The management has confirmed that the expansion will be financed entirely through internal accruals, ensuring a strong balance sheet remains intact while pursuing long-term market demand.
