Diamond Power Infrastructure: Wins ₹179 Crore Adani Electricity Cable Order

Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DPIL) has received a Letter of Award from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) for the supply of specialized medium and low voltage underground power cables. The contract is valued at ₹179.43 crore inclusive of GST. This award, covering approximately 871 kms of TR-XLPE cables, marks the third consecutive year DPIL has secured business from AEML, highlighting its strong manufacturing and delivery capabilities in a challenging environment.

Significant Contract Awarded

Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DPIL), a leading manufacturer of MV and EHV power cables, has announced the receipt of a Letter of Award from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML). This award pertains to the supply of specialized medium voltage and low voltage underground power cables for the Mumbai distribution network.

Contract Value and Scope

The total value of the award stands at ₹179.43 crore, inclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The scope of this significant order encompasses the supply of approximately 871 kilometers of cable in aggregate. This includes 33 kV and 11 kV medium voltage cables, along with associated 1.1 kV low voltage cables. The prices are inclusive of packing, forwarding, and transit insurance.

Specialized Cable Requirements

The cables to be supplied are designed with a water-tree retardant (TR-XLPE) construction, featuring longitudinal and radial water-blocking. This specialized design is engineered to withstand Mumbai’s unique coastal and monsoon conditions, which present aggressive challenges for underground power cables due to high rainfall, saline atmosphere, and proximity to the water table.

Repeat Business and Market Position

This marks the third consecutive year that DPIL has been awarded a contract by AEML. The company views this repeat business as a strong testament to AEML’s assessment of DPIL’s manufacturing capabilities, particularly its catenary continuous vulcanisation (CCV) process, its in-house testing infrastructure, and its consistent delivery performance. DPIL is also a notable supplier to BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking), another key distribution utility in Mumbai.

Manufacturing Expertise

DPIL emphasizes its sophisticated manufacturing processes, including the use of triple-extrusion heads, dry-cure crosslinking, clean-room compound handling, and controlled degassing. The company’s integrated facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, allows for control over conductor quality and input costs. The specialized nature of the awarded cables, requiring technical qualification beyond price, reinforces DPIL’s leadership in the medium voltage (MV) cables industry.
