Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pvt. Ltd. (PSA Mumbai). The collaboration aims to leverage the operational strengths of both organizations to enhance rail-based cargo movement. This strategic partnership focuses on improving logistics efficiency between PSA Mumbai, the largest terminal at JNPA, and CONCOR’s extensive national network of Inland Container Depots (ICDs), fostering seamless connectivity across India.
Strategic Collaboration for Logistics
Signed on May 15, 2026, in New Delhi, this partnership marks a significant step in optimizing multimodal logistics. The agreement was finalized in the presence of Mr. Sanjay Swarup, CMD of CONCOR, and Mr. Vincent Ng, Regional CEO of PSA International. The alliance is designed to create a more integrated transport network, connecting India’s busiest container terminal at JNPA directly to hinterland locations via rail.
Core Objectives and Operational Focus
The collaboration identifies several key areas to streamline supply chain operations:
- Rail-Based Movement: Facilitating the seamless transport of domestic, cabotage, and customs-cleared EXIM cargo between PSA Mumbai and CONCOR terminals.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Maximizing the use of available yard space and rail-handling facilities at the port to improve cargo aggregation and evacuation.
- Efficiency Gains: Reducing road congestion and turnaround times to ensure cost-effective logistics solutions for the industry.
- Scheduled Services: Working toward operating dedicated container train services, pending regulatory approvals and operational feasibility.
