Coal India: July Coal Production Rises 8.4% to 50.4 MT

Coal India Limited (CIL) has announced its provisional production and off-take performance for July 2026. Total coal production reached 50.4 million tonnes (MT), marking an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period last year. For the April-July 2026 period, production stood at 220.0 MT, a slight decrease of 4.3% year-on-year. Off-take figures also showed positive growth for July.

July 2026 Production Highlights

Coal India Limited (CIL) has released its provisional operational data, highlighting a robust performance in coal production for July 2026. The company reported a total production of 50.4 million tonnes (MT), representing a significant year-on-year increase of 8.4%. This growth underscores CIL’s efforts to meet domestic energy demands.

Year-to-Date Performance

For the cumulative period of April 2026 to July 2026, CIL’s total coal production amounted to 220.0 MT. This figure shows a marginal decrease of 4.3% when compared to the same period in the previous year, which recorded 229.8 MT.

Off-take Performance

In terms of off-take, CIL recorded 63.7 MT in July 2026, a substantial increase of 17.4% over the 54.2 MT from the same month last year. The cumulative off-take from April to July 2026 reached 261.9 MT, up 6.8% from the 245.2 MT reported in the corresponding period of the prior year. This indicates strong demand and efficient distribution of coal.

Subsidiary Contributions

The annexed tables provide a detailed breakdown of production and off-take figures for CIL’s various subsidiary companies. For instance, Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) reported a 34.1% production growth in July 2026, while Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) saw a 3.4% increase. In terms of off-take, CCL showed a strong 66.1% growth in July, and SECL and MCL also posted healthy increases.
