Coal India Limited (CIL) has appointed Shri Ashim Kumar Modi, JS&FA, Ministry of Coal, as a Part-Time Official Director on its Board, effective October 15, 2025. This appointment fills the vacancy created by the cessation of Shri Ashish Chatterjee. Modi also serves as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Coal and on the Board of SECL.

Background of Shri Ashim Kumar Modi
Shri Modi is an Officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IT) from the 2000 Batch. He is currently working as Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Coal, Government of India. He also serves as a Part-Time Official/Government Nominee Director on the Board of SECL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Shri Modi holds a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Departure of Shri Ashish Chatterjee
Concurrently, Shri Ashish Chatterjee (DIN-07688473), AS&FA, MOC, ceased to be a Part-Time Official Director on the Board of Coal India Limited (CIL) with effect from October 15, 2025.
