Carborundum Universal: Q1 FY26 Standalone PAT at ₹88 Cr, Consolidated Sales ₹1411 Cr

Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of FY2026-27, ending June 30, 2026. Standalone Profit After Tax (PAT) reached ₹88 crore, an increase from ₹77 crore in Q1FY26, excluding a one-time dividend. Consolidated sales grew by 16.9% year-on-year to ₹1411 crore. The company highlighted growth across its Abrasives, Ceramics, and Electrominerals segments.

Carborundum Universal Announces Q1 FY2026-27 Financial Highlights

Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI) has released its unaudited financial results for the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, which concluded on June 30, 2026. The Board of Directors approved these results on August 7, 2026.

Standalone Performance

For the standalone business, sales saw a significant growth of 21.2% in Q1FY27, reaching ₹846 crore, compared to ₹698 crore in the same quarter of the previous year (Q1FY26). The Electrominerals segment led this growth with a 33.0% increase. The Abrasives and Ceramics segments also reported healthy growth rates of 14.7% and 15.2%, respectively, compared to Q1FY26. Standalone Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q1FY27 was ₹88 crore. This figure excludes a one-time dividend of ₹68 crore received from a subsidiary in Q1FY26.

Consolidated Performance

On a consolidated basis, CUMI reported sales of ₹1411 crore for Q1FY27, marking a 16.9% increase compared to ₹1207 crore in Q1FY26. The Abrasives segment showed robust growth of 20.1%, while Ceramics and Electrominerals segments grew by 16.5% and 16.8%, respectively, year-on-year.

Consolidated profit after tax and non-controlling interest stood at ₹76 crore for Q1FY27. This represents a substantial growth of 23.4% compared to ₹62 crore in Q1FY26. Notably, this quarter’s results are contrasted with a loss after tax of ₹18 crore in Q4FY26.

Segmental Performance Insights

Abrasives

Consolidated sales for the Abrasives segment in Q1FY27 were ₹610 crore, an increase of 20.1% compared to Q1FY26. Standalone sales for this segment were ₹328 crore, reflecting a 14.7% growth year-on-year.

Electro Minerals

The Electro Minerals segment reported consolidated sales of ₹473 crore in Q1FY27, an 16.8% growth over Q1FY26. Standalone sales for this segment were ₹282 crore, showing a significant 33.0% increase compared to the prior year quarter.

Ceramics

For the Ceramics segment, consolidated sales in Q1FY27 amounted to ₹349 crore, a 16.5% increase compared to Q1FY26. The standalone business drove this growth, with standalone sales for the quarter at ₹274 crore, up 15.2% year-on-year.

Capital Expenditure and Debt

At the consolidated level, capital expenditure incurred during Q1FY27 was ₹54 crore. The company’s debt-equity ratio remained low at 0.05.

Auditor’s Review

The financial results were reviewed by the Audit Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. A limited review was conducted by the Statutory Auditors, Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants LLP, who found no material misstatements in the standalone and consolidated financial results.
