Canara Bank has announced a key change to its leadership team, with the appointment of Ms. Shalini Pandit as a Government Nominee Director on its Board. Effective May 13, 2026, Ms. Pandit replaces Shri Parshant Kumar Goyal. Bringing extensive experience as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Ms. Pandit currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Canara Bank has formally confirmed the transition of its Government Nominee Director. The Board of Directors will now include Ms. Shalini Pandit, an accomplished IAS officer from the Odisha cadre. This appointment, effective as of May 13, 2026, marks the departure of the previous nominee, Shri Parshant Kumar Goyal, who held the position until his cessation on the same date.

About Ms. Shalini Pandit

Ms. Shalini Pandit brings a wealth of administrative and public policy expertise to the Board. Currently, she serves as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance. Her career has been marked by significant contributions across various government sectors, including her previous roles as Secretary for the Health & Family Welfare Department, School & Mass Education Department, and the Mission Shakti Department in Odisha.

Academic and Professional Background

Beyond her administrative tenure, Ms. Pandit has demonstrated leadership in public health, notably during the Covid-19 pandemic, and has been involved in extensive reforms in the education sector. Academically, she holds a background in Botany from Miranda House College, University of Delhi, and an M.Sc. in Wildlife Science from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun. The bank has confirmed that she is not related to any existing members of the Board and is fully eligible to hold her new office.
