CAMS Women Investors Drive ₹11.3 Trillion in Mutual Fund AUM

Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) has released its 5th edition of the “Going Beyond the Box” report, revealing that women investors now account for ₹11.3 trillion in mutual fund assets under management. With 2.2 million new women investors added in FY’26, the report highlights a significant shift toward long-term, goal-based investing and a rising participation rate from beyond the top 30 cities.

Rising Participation and Financial Momentum

The latest industry data from CAMS underscores a major transformation in the Indian investment landscape. Women investors have become a driving force, contributing ₹3.0 trillion in gross inflows during FY’26. As of the report’s release on May 19, 2026, the total number of women investors has reached 13.2 million, signaling a robust and sustained onboarding momentum across the country.

Strategic Shift Toward Long-Term Wealth

The report identifies a clear evolution in investment behavior, moving away from simple participation toward purposeful, disciplined investing. A key highlight is the adoption of systematic investment plans (SIPs), with women now accounting for 29% of all live SIP accounts. This preference for systematic, long-term wealth creation is complemented by a growing inclination toward diversified portfolios, including hybrid and solution-oriented funds.

Demographic and Regional Trends

The findings reveal a younger and more geographically diverse investor base:

  • Youthful Demographic: Nearly 75% of women investors are under the age of 50, with particularly sharp growth observed in the under-35 segment.
  • Deeper Market Penetration: Investors from regions beyond the Top 30 cities now contribute 45% of the total women investor base, illustrating increasing financial inclusion in emerging regions.

Future Outlook for the Industry

CAMS leadership notes that this trend is fueled by rising financial independence and greater awareness of wealth-building tools. The report serves as a roadmap for asset managers and policymakers to better align products with the evolving needs of women investors, who are increasingly comfortable with both digital and assisted investment channels to achieve their multi-asset financial goals.
