Britannia: Q1’27 Revenue Jumps 9.5% to ₹4,964 Crore

The company also demonstrated strong profitability, with Profit after Tax (Owner’s Share) growing by +13.6%. This growth in profit, representing 11.9% of revenue, reflects improved operational efficiencies and strategic cost management. Britannia is actively Strengthening its Key States, which delivered 1.8x of 25-26 growth in Q1’27. Other States also saw double-digit growth at 1.3x of Key States.

Innovations and Activations

The company continues to focus on National activations for Core Brands, including campaigns like “Marie Gold x International Tea Day” and “NutriChoice x World Health Day”. Consumer engagement is also being driven through topical campaigns such as “Little Hearts X Mother’s Day” and “Cakes X Social Media Activation”. Innovations in croissants, like the “Treat Croissant” and “Dubai Kunafa Croissant”, are showing promising results with Q1’27 growth exceeding 30%.

Adjacency Businesses and International Reach

Britannia is expanding its Other Adjacency Businesses, including Cake, Rusk & Wafers, which delivered double-digit growth. The Dairy portfolio, fueled by Ghee and Cheese, also grew in double-digits. The International Business showed flat growth for the quarter, with stabilization in the latter part, and the company is closely monitoring developments in West Asia.

ESG and Cost Efficiency

The company is committed to building a sustainable business through ESG initiatives. Progress includes a ~0.7% increase in women factory workforce, reaching 3,97,125 BNF beneficiaries through the Britannia Nutrition Foundation, and a ~16% increase in Renewable Electricity share in Own Plants. Cost efficiency programs are being accelerated across verticals, focusing on Packaging Cost Optimization, Wastage Reduction, Alternate Fuels, Renewable Energy, and Buying Efficiency.

While input costs for Flour and Refined Palm Oil saw marginal increases, Milk and Industrial Fuel experienced significant upward trends. However, the note indicates that strategic covers enabled input costs to be lower than market prices. The company’s key financial lines for Q1’26-27 show Net Sales of ₹4,964 Crore, Operating Profit of ₹761 Crore, Profit Before Tax of ₹797 Crore, and Profit After Tax (Owner’s Share) of ₹591 Crore, all showing healthy year-on-year growth.
