Blue Star Secures Victory in Dubai Arbitration Appeal

Blue Star Limited announced on October 31, 2026, that the Dubai Court of Appeal has dismissed an application filed by W.J. Towell & Co LLC (WJT) seeking the annulment of an arbitration award. This development marks a significant positive outcome for Blue Star in the long-standing dispute.

Arbitration Award Upheld

The arbitration proceedings, initiated by WJT before the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), concerned a Shareholders’ Agreement for Blue Star Oman Electro Mechanical Company. Previously, on July 23, 2026, Blue Star had disclosed that the Arbitrator had issued an award in its favor, dismissing WJT’s entire claim of OMR 2,11,80,748. WJT subsequently approached the Dubai Court of Appeal seeking annulment of this award. Blue Star had asserted that the grounds for annulment raised by WJT were baseless.

Next Steps

The Dubai Court of Appeal’s decision to dismiss WJT’s annulment application in its entirety is a crucial win for Blue Star. The company stated that while WJT may still pursue further appeals, it will present appropriate submissions for the dismissal of any such appeal. The company noted that this development, while subsequent, does not constitute a material update requiring further disclosure beyond this notification.
