Contract Details and Value
The total value of this significant contract stands at ₹810.79 crore. The order has been placed under the ‘Buy (Indian – Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)’ category, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering domestic defence manufacturing capabilities. The contract signing ceremony took place in New Delhi on September 23, 2026, in the presence of the Defence Secretary.
Product and Delivery Schedule
The SAT-SAAW system is described as an air-to-ground precision guided glide bomb, capable of being launched from various platforms like Jaguar, Hawk, and Su-30 MKI. It is designed to neutralize enemy airfields from a long stand-off range. Notably, the system boasts an indigenous content of 60%, with indigenization efforts focused on critical sub-systems. The delivery of these weapons is scheduled to commence between 2027-28 and 2028-29.
