Berger Paints Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Performance
Berger Paints India Limited has announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, revealing a strong performance across its business segments. The company reported a standalone and consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) increase of 26% and 29%, respectively. This growth was driven by several factors, including healthy volume and value growth across key product categories.
Decorative Business Shines
The decorative segment, a cornerstone of Berger Paints’ business, demonstrated exceptional growth, achieving its highest growth in the last 12 quarters. This segment delivered approximately 13.5% value growth and nearly 20% operating profit growth, attributed to effective price increases and strong traction in premium interior emulsions. Exterior emulsions also outperformed, with new product launches gaining significant market acceptance.
Segmental Performance and Outlook
Other segments also contributed positively. Automotive Coatings reported healthy double-digit value growth. Protective GI and powder coatings saw relatively lower growth due to delayed price increases. Management expressed optimism for the upcoming quarters, projecting a sustainment of double-digit revenue growth for FY27, supported by festive demand, distribution expansion, and the full impact of price increases. Operating margins are expected to remain within the guided range of 15% to 17%.
Market Dynamics and Strategy
The company discussed its market share, particularly in the eastern part of India, and highlighted its ongoing efforts in backward integration to improve profitability and efficiency. Strategic initiatives include expanding the network of stores and leveraging branding campaigns to strengthen the Berger brand. Berger Paints also addressed competitive intensity, noting that while it remains high, the company is well-positioned with its product portfolio and market strategy.
Financial Highlights
Key financial metrics for Q1 FY27 included volume growth of approximately 8.4%, income from operations up by 12.7%, PBDIT IT growth at 12.6%, and PAT growth at 25.5% on a standalone basis. Consolidated revenue grew 12%. The company also highlighted its growing cash surplus, reaching ₹1424 crore as of the end of June financial year 27.
