Axis Bank Board Approves Fund Raising and Dividend for FY26

Axis Bank has announced its latest board meeting outcomes, confirming a dividend recommendation of Rs. 1/- per equity share for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. Furthermore, the board has approved significant plans to raise capital through debt instruments and equity-linked securities to support the bank’s growth strategy. These proposals are now subject to approval from shareholders at the upcoming 32nd Annual General Meeting.

Dividend Distribution

The Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of Rs. 1/- per equity share for the financial year ended March 31, 2026. Given the face value of Rs. 2/- per share, this represents a 50% payout. The dividend payment remains subject to shareholder approval at the ensuing 32nd Annual General Meeting and will be distributed within 30 days of the meeting’s conclusion.

Strategic Capital Expansion

To bolster its financial position, the bank has authorized two major capital-raising initiatives:

  • Debt Financing: The board approved raising up to Rs. 35,000 crores through various debt instruments, including long-term bonds, masala bonds, sustainable/ESG bonds, and Tier II capital bonds.
  • Equity Issuance: The bank is also authorized to raise up to Rs. 20,000 crores through equity shares, depository receipts, or other equity-linked securities via methods such as Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) or preferential allotment.

Next Steps

Both the debt and equity fundraising plans are designed to strengthen the bank’s capital structure and support future lending activities. These measures are awaiting final approval from the shareholders and necessary regulatory authorities. The board’s decisions were finalized during the meeting held on April 25, 2026, which concluded at 11:35 am.
