Adani Ports will enable Dighi Port to handle 200,000 cars per year through a partnership with Motherson. Dighi Port Expansion Plans
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) will turn Dighi Port into a new automobile export terminal, facilitated by a new partnership. This will allow the port to handle approximately 200,000 cars per year. The agreement will establish a dedicated facility for auto exports at Dighi Port in Maharashtra, with Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), Motherson’s joint venture, investing in the terminal.
Strategic Automotive Partnership
The strategic partnership positions Dighi Port as the primary export terminal for the Mumbai to Pune auto belt. This will expand the port’s capabilities to support India’s automotive growth under the Make in India initiative, creating seamless export and import processes for vehicles in global markets. The new RoRo (Roll on and Roll off) terminal will feature advanced infrastructure to manage end-to-end Finished Vehicle (FV) logistics.

Mr. Ashwani Gupta, CEO & Whole time Director, Adani Ports and SEZ, mentioned that the partnership marks a significant step in redefining automotive logistics in India by creating a resilient network for vehicle movement. He further stated that this RoRo terminal will accelerate trade, enhance supply chain efficiency, and deliver long-term value. Mr. Laksh Vaaman Sehgal, Vice Chairman, Motherson Group, indicated that this partnership enhances the service portfolio, reduces logistics costs for OEM partners, and strengthens India’s automotive supply chain.
