Adani Power Limited has announced its strongest ever quarterly operating and financial performance for the first quarter of FY27 (Q1 FY27), ending July 23, 2026. The company highlighted a significant increase in power generation and dispatch, meeting the nation’s surging energy needs during a period of high demand driven by extreme weather conditions.
Operational Highlights
During the quarter, India experienced a hotter-than-usual summer, leading to a record high peak demand of around 271 GW in May 2026. Overall energy consumption rose by 8.4% year-on-year to 485 billion units. Adani Power responded by achieving its highest ever quarterly power generation of 31 billion units and dispatching 28.8 billion units, marking a 17% growth. This was attributed to improved Plant Load Factor (PLF) and increased operating capacity.
Financial Performance
Financially, the company posted robust results. Continuing revenue for Q1 FY27 reached INR 17,936 crores, a 27% increase compared to the corresponding quarter of FY26. Continuing EBITDA (without prior period items) was INR 6,983 crores, up 22% year-on-year. The profit after tax saw a substantial jump of 47% year-on-year, reaching INR 4,867 crores for Q1 FY27, up from INR 3,305 crores in Q1 FY26. The company also reported a one-time net recognition of prior period revenues of INR 1,386 crores.
Strategic Growth and Expansion
Adani Power is focused on strategic growth, aiming to expand its portfolio to 45 GW. Key developments include the successful acquisition of power assets from Jaiprakash Associates, adding the 180-MW Churk power plant and stakes in Jaiprakash Power Ventures and Prayagraj Power Generation Company. Furthermore, the company secured a 25-year power supply agreement with the Maharashtra DISCOM for 1,600 MW. Capacity expansion projects, including the 1,320 MW Korba Phase-II and 1,600-MW Mahan Phase-II projects, are on track for commissioning. The company has already tied up 56% of its upcoming capacity under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Balance Sheet and Future Outlook
The company’s balance sheet remains robust, with total debt outstanding at INR 58,381 crores as of June 30, 2026. Adani Power is also exploring new territories, including international hydropower and nuclear power projects. The company is committed to meeting India’s long-term development goals by supplying reliable and competitive electricity.
