NLC India Limited Ghatampur Thermal Power Project Unit-3 Achieves Commercial Operation

NLC India Limited announces that Unit-3 of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project has successfully commenced Commercial Operation. This 660 MW unit, part of a joint venture with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, achieved Commercial Operation Declaration (COD) on June 13, 2026. The full commissioning of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Station increases the NLCIL group’s total installed capacity to 8405 MW, enhancing power supply reliability.

Ghatampur Thermal Power Project Reaches Key Milestone

NLC India Limited (NLCIL) is pleased to report that Unit-3 of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project has successfully achieved Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). This significant milestone for the 660 MW unit was effective from 00:00 hours on June 13, 2026.

Joint Venture Success

The Ghatampur Thermal Power Project is a collaborative effort through Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), a joint venture where NLC India Limited holds a 51% stake and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) holds 49%. The successful commissioning of Unit-3 marks the full operational status of the entire Ghatampur Thermal Power Station, which comprises three units of 660 MW each.

Impact on Power Capacity and Supply

With the declaration of COD for Unit-3, the Ghatampur Thermal Power Station is now fully commissioned and operating commercially. This development is expected to substantially strengthen the reliable and sustainable power supply to the State of Uttar Pradesh, while also contributing significantly to the nation’s increasing energy demands. This achievement brings the NLCIL group’s overall installed capacity to 8405 MW, an increase from the previous 7745 MW.
