Gillette India Limited has announced a significant leadership change within its senior management team. Girish Kalyanaraman has been appointed as the new Vice President and Category Leader for the Grooming and Oral Care business, with his tenure commencing on July 1, 2026. This appointment comes as part of a broader organizational update aimed at strengthening leadership in key business segments.
Kalyanaraman’s Extensive Experience
Mr. Kalyanaraman possesses a deep and diverse background within Procter & Gamble (P&G). Most recently, he served as the Vice President and Category Leader for the Feminine Care business in P&G India, where he successfully led the ‘Whisper’ brand. Over his tenure, which spans approximately two decades, Kalyanaraman has worked across more than 20 markets and managed three distinct brands. Prior to his role in Feminine Care, he was instrumental in leading Brand Operations for P&G India. In this capacity, he significantly influenced P&G’s media ecosystem, driving improvements in digital effectiveness and in-house capabilities, alongside scaling up direct-to-consumer trial programs.
Kalyanaraman joined P&G in 2007 as an Assistant Brand Manager and has since been recognized for delivering transformative results across various business units. He has also been credited with leading numerous award-winning brand campaigns that have garnered both national and global recognition. Described as a passionate brand builder with a strong understanding of consumer needs, Kalyanaraman holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Singapore-MIT Alliance.
Transition in Leadership Roles
The appointment of Mr. Kalyanaraman marks a transition for the Grooming and Oral Care categories. He will be taking over responsibilities from Mr. Kapil Sharma, who previously served as the Category Leader for Grooming, and Mr. Shailesh Sathyanarayanan, the former Category Leader for Oral Care. Both Mr. Sharma and Mr. Sathyanarayanan will be concluding their roles effective the close of business on June 30, 2026.
