Hyundai Motor India Production Disruption Update Following Supplier Fire

Hyundai Motor India has provided an update on production following a fire incident at a supplier’s facility, Mobis India Limited. While Chennai Plant 2 and the Pune plant remain largely unaffected, Chennai Plant 1 experienced temporary disruption. The company expects full production recovery by June 22, 2026, with most lost production anticipated to be recovered within the next quarter. Retail sales for June 2026 are not expected to be significantly impacted due to adequate inventory.

Production Recovery Efforts Underway

Hyundai Motor India has issued a status update regarding its production activities, following an earlier intimation of a fire incident at the manufacturing facility of its supplier, Mobis India Limited. This incident had led to a temporary disruption in the company’s production. Hyundai is actively implementing all necessary measures to ensure a swift return to normal production levels, including securing automotive parts from alternative sources.

Impact on Manufacturing Plants

The company has clarified that operations at its Pune plant and Chennai Plant 2 have remained largely unaffected and are continuing as usual. The temporary production disruption was primarily confined to Chennai Plant 1. This specific facility is projected to resume its normal production pace by June 15, 2026, with all production operations anticipated to return to full normalcy by June 22, 2026.

Financial and Sales Outlook

Hyundai Motor India is currently assessing the full extent of the incident’s impact on its overall operations. The company anticipates that any production losses incurred due to this event will be substantially recovered within the subsequent quarter. Furthermore, Hyundai expects no significant impact on its retail sales for June 2026, owing to sufficient inventory levels across its distribution network.
