Ashok Leyland May 2026 Sales Figures Show Mixed Performance

Domestic Sales Performance

M&HCV Segment

In the domestic market, Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) trucks recorded sales of 7,065 units in May 2026, a decrease of 5% compared to 7,466 units in May 2025. M&HCV buses saw a more substantial decline, with sales of 1,255 units, down 35% from 1,920 units in the previous year. Consequently, total M&HCV domestic sales amounted to 8,320 units, an 11% decrease from 9,386 units.

LCV Segment

Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) demonstrated positive growth, with sales reaching 5,828 units in May 2026, a 13% increase from 5,148 units in May 2025. This growth helped to partially offset the decline in the M&HCV segment.

Total Domestic Vehicles

Overall, total domestic vehicle sales for Ashok Leyland in May 2026 stood at 14,148 units, a slight decrease of 3% from 14,534 units in May 2025.

Domestic + Exports Sales Performance

M&HCV Segment (Global)

When combining domestic and export sales, M&HCV trucks registered 7,331 units, a 4% decrease year-on-year. M&HCV buses experienced a significant reduction in sales, totaling 1,635 units, down 39% from the previous year. This resulted in total M&HCV sales (domestic + exports) of 8,966 units, a 13% decline from May 2025.

LCV Segment (Global)

The LCV segment, including exports, saw robust growth, with sales reaching 5,957 units, a significant 15% increase from 5,202 units in May 2025.

Total Vehicles (Global)

The aggregate sales for total vehicles, including both domestic and export markets, reached 14,923 units in May 2026. This represents a 4% decrease compared to 15,484 units sold in May 2025.

Domestic Market Cumulative

Cumulatively, M&HCV trucks sales for the period stand at 13,879 units, showing a 4% increase over the same period last year. M&HCV buses cumulative sales are 2,418 units, a decrease of 29%. Total M&HCV cumulative sales are 16,297 units, down 3%. LCV cumulative sales are strong at 12,093 units, a 18% increase. Total domestic vehicle cumulative sales are 28,390 units, up 5%.

Domestic + Exports Cumulative

On a combined domestic and export basis, cumulative M&HCV truck sales are 14,338 units, up 4%. M&HCV bus cumulative sales are 2,930 units, a decrease of 35%. Total M&HCV cumulative sales are 17,268 units, down 5%. LCV cumulative sales are 12,301 units, an increase of 15%. Total vehicle cumulative sales (domestic + exports) are 29,569 units, up 2%.
