Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has reported a robust financial performance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company achieved a profit after tax of ₹23,303 crore, a significant increase from the previous year’s ₹13,275 crore. Operational efficiency remained a key driver, with refinery throughput reaching 41.15 MMT and total petroleum product sales growing to 55.72 MMT, supported by strong performance in domestic markets.
Fiscal Year 2025-26 Financial Performance
BPCL delivered strong financial results for the full year ending March 31, 2026. The profit before tax for the fiscal year stood at ₹31,104 crore, rising sharply from ₹17,664 crore reported in FY 2024-25. The profit after tax also saw a substantial year-on-year increase, closing at ₹23,303 crore compared to ₹13,275 crore in the previous fiscal year.
Refining and Operational Metrics
The company demonstrated high operational stability throughout the year. Refinery throughput for FY 2025-26 was 41.15 MMT, a steady increase over the 40.51 MMT processed in the previous year. Distillate yields showed improvement, reaching 84.54% for the full year. Furthermore, the Gross Refining Margin (GRM) before specific duty and cess impacts rose significantly to $11.74 per barrel, compared to $6.82 per barrel in FY 2024-25.
Marketing and Sales Growth
BPCL’s marketing segment maintained a strong trajectory, with total sales reaching 55.72 MMT for the fiscal year, up from 53.63 MMT in the prior year. Domestic sales formed the bulk of this volume at 54.18 MMT, led by strong demand for High Speed Diesel (HSD) at 23.35 MMT and Motor Spirit (MS) at 11.38 MMT. Export sales also saw positive growth, totaling 1.54 MMT for the year.
Debt and Interest Management
As of March 31, 2026, BPCL reported a debt position of ₹10,480 crore (excluding IND AS 116 lease liabilities). Interest expenditure for the year was ₹1,634 crore, while interest income remained strong at ₹1,612 crore, reflecting prudent financial management amid ongoing capital investments.
