Bajaj Electricals has received a favorable outcome in its appeal regarding a tax assessment for the 2018-19 financial year. The Appellate Authority has substantially reduced the company’s total tax demand from Rs. 83.78 lakh to Rs. 3.61 lakh, inclusive of penalties. The company has accepted this revised liability and has decided not to pursue any further legal appeals regarding this specific assessment.
Background of the Tax Dispute
In April 2024, Bajaj Electricals was issued an assessment order by the GST authorities concerning the 2018-19 financial year. The initial demand, which focused on the alleged disallowance of GST input credit, totaled Rs. 83.78 lakh, a figure that included a general penalty of Rs. 8.38 lakh.
Resolution Through Appellate Process
Following the company’s appeal, the Joint Commissioner of Secunderabad reviewed the submissions and issued a new order on April 22, 2026. This favorable outcome resulted in a revised total demand of just Rs. 3.61 lakh, which includes a reduced penalty of Rs. 0.33 lakh. The management has confirmed that it accepts this revised amount and will not file any further appeals.
Operational and Financial Impact
The company has clarified that this resolution has no impact on its day-to-day operational, financial, or other business activities. The total liability is now confined to the revised figure mandated by the Appellate Authority, bringing the matter to a definitive close.
