Suzlon Energy Secures Sixth Repeat Order of 100 MW from GAIL for Maharashtra Project

Suzlon Energy announced securing its sixth repeat order of approximately 100 MW from Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). This marks Suzlon’s fourth Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) order in the current fiscal year (FY26). The project will be executed in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, utilizing 47 S120 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) rated at 2.1 MW each. The win deepens Suzlon’s footprint in Maharashtra, where it holds a ~38% market share.

Suzlon Secures Sixth Order from Strategic Partner GAIL

Suzlon Energy Limited has successfully won its sixth repeat order totaling approximately 100 MW from the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL). This long-standing partnership, spanning over 15 years, is now being extended to Maharashtra with this new project, which follows previous orders executed in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Gujarat.

Key Highlights of the 100 MW Wind Project

The announcement confirms several critical highlights related to this significant contract:

  • Order Count: This is the sixth order secured from GAIL by Suzlon.
  • Fiscal Importance: It represents Suzlon’s fourth PSU order secured during the current fiscal year, FY26.
  • Location: The project is slated for execution in the Nandurbar district of Maharashtra.
  • Technology Deployed: Suzlon will supply 47 state-of-the-art S120 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs).
  • Capacity Rating: Each WTG is rated at 2.1 MW, contributing to the total ~100 MW capacity.

Strengthening PSU Segment and Maharashtra Presence

This contract aligns with Suzlon’s strategic focus on expanding its engagement within the PSU segment, which now constitutes over 64% of the company’s total orderbook. The power generated from this new facility will specifically support the decarbonization efforts for GAIL’s upcoming petrochemical plant located in Nandurbar.

Furthermore, this development bolsters Suzlon’s strong regional position; the company currently commands a ~38% market share in Maharashtra’s 5.8 GW of installed wind capacity. The scope of work involves supplying the turbines, overseeing equipment installation, execution, erection, commissioning, and providing comprehensive Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services post-commissioning.

Leadership Commentary

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, expressed enthusiasm regarding the continuation of the strong relationship with GAIL. He noted that while the partnership has historically spanned several states, this order marks their maiden project in Maharashtra with GAIL. Mr. Kapur also highlighted the successful re-entry into the PSU segment starting two years prior with a 1.1 GW order from NTPC Limited.
