Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has delivered the first indigenously built Diving Support Craft (DSC), named DSC A20, to the Indian Navy. This is the first of five DSCs constructed by TRSL, supporting the Navy’s underwater operations and training. The vessel has a length of 32.9 metres and an endurance of 72 hours, enhancing operational readiness and contributing to India’s self-reliance goals.
Diving Support Craft Delivered
Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has officially handed over the first indigenously built Diving Support Craft (DSC), DSC A20, to the Indian Navy. The handover took place on September 16, 2025, and marks a key milestone under the Ministry of Defence’s Make in India initiative. This vessel represents the first in a series of five DSCs being constructed by TRSL.
Vessel Capabilities and Specifications
The Diving Support Craft, featuring a catamaran-type hull, is designed to support the Navy’s Command Clearance Diving Teams in critical underwater operations, including repair, maintenance, and salvage. The vessel, with an overall length of 32.9 metres and a breadth of 13 metres, has an endurance of 72 hours at economical speed with 25 percent reserve fuel capacity. It is powered by two engines of 1,342 KW each, achieving a cruising speed of 11 knots, and accommodates a complement of 18 personnel.
TRSL’s Growing Maritime Role
The delivery of DSC A20 underscores TRSL’s capability to deliver complex, high-precision vessels for the armed forces. DSC A20 is the first Indian Naval Commissioned Vessel to be built and delivered by a private shipyard in Bengal, reinforcing Titagarh’s expanding role in India’s maritime sector.

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, through its Shipbuilding & Maritime Systems (TRSL-SMS) division, is establishing a state-of-the-art shipyard at Falta. The company’s Board has approved the transfer of the shipbuilding and maritime systems business into a wholly owned subsidiary, Titagarh Naval Systems. The new facility, designed with advanced automation and aligned with Industry 4.0 standards, builds on TRSL’s legacy of delivering over 35 vessels and can handle ships up to 180 meters in length, with an annual capacity of 12-16 vessels.
