The Great Eastern Shipping Company has agreed to purchase a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) with a capacity of approximately 84,048 cbm on December 19, 2025. The 2015 South Korean-built vessel is anticipated to join the fleet in Q4 FY26. The company’s fleet currently includes 40 vessels. Additionally, the company will buy one Ultramax Dry Bulk Carrier and sell one Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier and a Suezmax Crude Tanker.
New VLGC Acquisition
The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has contracted to buy a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) of about 84,048 cbm. The purchase agreement was finalized on December 19, 2025. This 2015 South Korean-built vessel is scheduled to be integrated into the company’s fleet during Q4 FY26.
Financing and Fleet Expansion
The acquisition of the VLGC will be fully financed through internal accruals. The company aims to expand its fleet with this addition.
Current Fleet Composition
As of the announcement date, The Great Eastern Shipping Company’s owned fleet comprises 40 vessels. This includes 26 tankers (6 Crude Carriers, 16 Product Tankers, and 4 LPG carriers) and 14 Dry Bulk Carriers, aggregating 3.32 Mn dwt. The current fleet capacity utilization is nearly 100%.
Additional Transactions
In addition to the VLGC acquisition, the company has contracted to buy one secondhand Ultramax Dry Bulk Carrier and sell one Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier named “Jag Aarati.” These transactions are expected to be finalized in Q4 FY26.
Furthermore, the company has also agreed to sell one Suezmax Crude Tanker named “Jag Lok.” This sale is expected to be completed in Q3 FY26.
