Updates to PAN and bank details are crucial for electronic dividend payouts.
Interim Dividend Declared
The Board of Directors of The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has announced the declaration of its 2nd interim dividend. This dividend is set at ₹14.40 per equity share for the financial year 2026-27.
Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) Procedures
The company is required to deduct Income-tax at source (TDS) on the dividend payment as per the Income-tax Act, 2025. The TDS rate will be determined by the shareholder’s residential status and the submitted documentation. Shareholders are advised to ensure their Permanent Account Number (PAN) is linked with their Aadhar. For resident individual shareholders, TDS will be deducted at 10% if the dividend exceeds ₹10,000, unless specific exemption forms (like Form No. 121) are submitted correctly and the dividend amount does not exceed the non-taxable limit.
For resident non-individuals like Insurance Companies, Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), and Mutual Funds, income tax will not be deducted if they provide the necessary self-declarations and registration documents to the Company’s Registrar and Share Transfer Agents (KFin Technologies Limited) by November 13, 2026.
Non-Resident Shareholder Guidelines
Non-resident shareholders can opt to be governed by Double Tax Avoidance Treaties (DTAA) if more beneficial. To avail DTAA benefits, they must submit specific documents, including PAN (if allotted by Indian authorities), Tax Residency Certificate (TRC), and self-declarations by November 13, 2026, to KFin Technologies Limited. The company is not obligated to apply beneficial DTAA rates without a satisfactory review of these documents.
Requirement for PAN and Aadhar Linkage
The company emphasizes the mandatory linkage of PAN with Aadhar for all individual taxpayers. Shareholders are requested to ensure their PAN is linked with their Aadhar number to facilitate correct tax processing.
Updation of Shareholder Details
Shareholders are urged to update their records, including tax residential status, PAN, registered email addresses, mobile numbers, and bank account details, with their respective depositories (for dematerialized shares) or with KFin Technologies Limited (for physical shares). Failure to update these details, especially KYC and bank information, may result in the dividend being withheld by the Company.
Scanned copies of signed documents for TDS determination must be emailed to [email protected] and to KFin Technologies Limited at [email protected] by November 13, 2026. No requests regarding tax determination or deduction will be entertained after this date.
TDS Certificates and Further Information
A soft copy of the TDS certificate will be emailed to shareholders’ registered email IDs after dividend payment. Shareholders can also view TDS credit in Form No. 16B via the e-filing portal of the Indian Income-tax department. For any further information or clarification, shareholders can contact the company at [email protected] or its RTA at [email protected].
The company clarifies that this communication is not tax advice, and shareholders should consult with a tax professional for their specific tax matters.
