NTPC Limited has announced an increase in its total installed capacity to 91,164 MW and commercial capacity to 90,084 MW. This expansion is attributed to the commissioning of new solar and wind energy projects by its subsidiaries, NTPC Green Energy Limited and NTPC Renewable Energy Limited. The announcement highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to renewable energy expansion.
NTPC Group Expands Capacity
NTPC Limited has reported an expansion in its overall operational capacity. The company’s total installed capacity now stands at 91,164 MW, with a commercial capacity of 90,084 MW. This significant increase is a result of new project commissioning activities undertaken by its subsidiaries in the renewable energy sector.
New Renewable Energy Projects Commissioned
The expansion includes the declaration of commercial operation for two key renewable energy projects. Firstly, a third part capacity of 68.22 MW from the 200 MW Gujarat Solar PV Project at Dahod, Gujarat, has been commissioned, effective July 23, 2026. This project is developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a stepdown subsidiary of NTPC Limited, through its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL).
Secondly, a third part capacity of 9.45 MW from the Vanki Wind Energy Project in Nakhatrana, Kutch, Gujarat, has also been declared on commercial operation. This capacity became operational at 00:00 hrs on September 19, 2026.
Subsidiary Operations and Capacity
NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, further detailed its capacity additions. As of September 18, 2026, NGEL group’s commercial capacity was 10,842.86 MW. With the commissioning of the Gujarat Solar PV Project portion, its total installed capacity increased to 10,911.08 MW.
Subsequently, as of September 19, 2026, NGEL group’s commercial capacity reached 10,911.08 MW. The addition of the Vanki Wind Energy Project portion brought the total installed capacity of the NGEL group to 10,920.53 MW.
