Uno Minda: ₹1,415 Crore Expansion for Four Key Divisions

Uno Minda Limited has announced a significant strategic expansion initiative, investing ₹1,415 crore across four of its key business divisions. These projects aim to enhance manufacturing capabilities, boost capacities, and meet growing demand from automotive OEMs. The expansions include Greenfield Aluminium Casting facility in Hosur and capacity expansion/relocation for Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheels in Kharkhoda.

Uno Minda Announces Major Strategic Expansions

Uno Minda Limited, a global technology leader in automotive components and systems manufacturing, today announced a series of strategic capacity expansion and plant consolidation projects. The initiative, backed by a combined investment of approximately ₹1,415 crore, is set to strengthen the company’s manufacturing footprint, boost capacities across key divisions, and cater to the surging demand from leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

The announced projects focus on enhancing capabilities in Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheels, Aluminium Casting, Moulding, and Interior, Exterior Parts and Sealing Systems.

Greenfield Aluminium Casting Facility at Hosur

Uno Minda’s Aluminium Casting Division will establish a new greenfield facility at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. This new plant, located on an available land parcel at Thally Road, aims to create a scalable, future-ready manufacturing base. The current Hosur facility has reached its practical expansion limits. The new plant will feature a lean manufacturing layout designed for improved productivity and seamless material flow. The estimated additional capital expenditure for this project is ₹510 crore, aiming to enhance aluminium casting capacity from the current ~13,000 MT to 30,000 MT at peak. Phase 1 of production is expected to commence by Q4FY28, with consolidation and relocation of existing operations by Q1FY29. The product range will include various structural and general application castings, as well as approximately 1.0 Mn HPDC two-wheeler alloy wheels.

Expansion cum Relocation of Two-Wheeler Alloy Wheel Capacity in Kharkhoda, Haryana

To align production with shifting customer geographic demand, Uno Minda’s Board of Directors has approved a 3.3 million-unit two-wheeler alloy wheel capacity expansion at its Kharkhoda, Haryana plant. This strategic initiative includes the relocation of 2.0 million units of existing capacity from Supa, Maharashtra, to the Kharkhoda plant. The estimated additional capex for this project is ₹155 crore. Phase 1 of production is expected to commence by Q4FY28. This expansion will strengthen geographical diversification and enhance Uno Minda’s presence in North India for its two-wheeler alloy wheel business.
