Aarti Industries Limited has announced the successful commissioning of Phase I of its Zone IV project at Jhagadia, Gujarat. This expansion includes facilities for Calcium Chloride, PEDA, and a Multipurpose Plant. The move is set to enhance downstream integration, diversify applications, and bolster flexible manufacturing capabilities for high-value and niche chemical products, including several to be manufactured in India for the first time.
Aarti Industries Expands High-Value Manufacturing Capabilities
Aarti Industries Limited (AIL), a global specialty chemicals company, has marked a significant milestone with the successful commissioning of Phase I of its Zone IV project at Jhagadia, Gujarat. This strategic expansion is designed to bolster the company’s growth and operational capabilities in the specialty chemicals sector.
Key Facilities and Strategic Impact
The newly commissioned Phase I integrates three critical facilities: a Calcium Chloride facility, a PEDA (2-Phenyl Ethyl Diethyl Aniline) plant, and a portion of its Multipurpose Plant (MPP). This synergy is expected to significantly strengthen AIL’s downstream integration, broaden its application portfolio, and enhance its flexible multi-product manufacturing capacity. The platform is specifically geared towards commercializing high-value and niche products, with several of these slated for first-time manufacturing in India.
Enhanced Product Offerings and Market Reach
The PEDA plant extends AIL’s existing Ethylation platform, building upon its 2,6-Diethyl Aniline capabilities and aiming to increase participation in value-added products primarily for the agrochemical sector. The Calcium Chloride facility is set to enrich AIL’s Energy & Additives portfolio, finding applications in oilfield and energy-related markets. The Multipurpose Plant offers a flexible manufacturing environment to scale up pilot-tested processes, allowing for quicker adaptation to evolving customer and market demands. With Phase I now operational, AIL will focus on commercial qualification, customer approvals, and a phased ramp-up of these new assets.
Vision for Growth and Innovation
According to Suyog Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer of Aarti Industries Limited, “Commissioning of Phase I of Zone IV marks an important milestone in Aarti Industries’ growth journey. Zone IV has been conceived as a flexible platform that allows us to deepen integration, diversify applications, and progressively add high-value, niche products to our portfolio.” The broader Zone IV platform is engineered to facilitate the manufacture of diverse chemistries, enabling AIL to respond dynamically to emerging opportunities in both domestic and global markets. This project represents a key component of AIL’s long-term specialty chemicals growth strategy.
