CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited has announced the successful rollout of the first transformer from its new greenfield facility in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. This facility is positioned as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing plant, with a capacity to produce transformers up to 1200 kV. The project, a significant expansion for the company, aims to meet growing domestic and export demand.
India’s Largest Transformer Facility Operational
CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited (CG) has marked a significant milestone with the commencement of operations at its new greenfield manufacturing facility in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. The company announced the rollout of the first power transformer from this facility on September 4, 2026. This new plant is touted as India’s largest single-location power transformer manufacturing facility, spanning over 50 acres.
Expanded Production Capacity
The facility is designed to manufacture power transformers for the 220 kV to 1200 kV class, with an initial installed capacity of 10,000 MVA. The total planned capacity of the plant upon full commissioning will reach 45,000 MVA, bringing the company’s total transformer manufacturing capacity to 1,20,000 MVA. This expansion is crucial for meeting the increasing demand for electrical infrastructure equipment in sectors such as utilities, data centers, railways, and renewable energy, as well as for bolstering the company’s export business.
Project Timeline and Investment
Construction of the plant began in October 2025, following the acquisition of land lease in June 2025. The total investment required for this expansion is approximately ₹792 Crores, financed through a combination of Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) and internal accruals. The company highlighted the agility and collaboration involved in bringing the facility to life within 13-14 months, supported by the Madhya Pradesh Government.
Strategic Importance and Job Creation
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, graced the occasion, emphasizing the facility’s role in strengthening India’s high-voltage transmission equipment capabilities and supporting the nation’s transition to a power-sufficient status. The project is also expected to generate over 2000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the Sehore region, contributing to local economic development.
