The Tata Power Company Limited has announced the successful commissioning of a significant power transmission project in Uttar Pradesh. This marks the completion of the second element of the Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Project, designed to bolster the region’s power infrastructure and improve connectivity to demand centres in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Western Uttar Pradesh.
Project Details and Capacity
The newly commissioned element features a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line, covering a distance of 162 circuit kilometres (CKM). This vital corridor establishes a high-voltage link between Khurja and Jalpura, facilitating efficient power flow. Complementing the transmission lines is a new 400/220 kV GIS substation located at Jalpura, equipped with a substantial 1,000 MVA transformation capacity. This substation will serve as a major power gateway, enabling the seamless transfer of power from the 400 kV grid to the 220 kV network, thereby supporting the area’s increasing power requirements.
Enhancing Regional Grid Reliability
The commissioning of this transmission corridor and substation is expected to significantly enhance the reliability, resilience, and efficiency of the power transmission network in the region. It supports the next phase of growth for NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh, contributing to India’s objective of building a robust and future-ready electricity grid.
