Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has inaugurated its fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh. This expansion, involving an investment of over ₹480 crore, makes the Malanpur facility Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing plant. The new unit is expected to boost production capacity and is aligned with GCPL’s strategy for strengthening its FMCG leadership and commitment to sustainable manufacturing.
New Manufacturing Hub Launched
Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson, GCPL. This expansion underscores Madhya Pradesh’s growing industrial strength and reinforces GCPL’s commitment to large-scale manufacturing in the state.
Investment and Capacity Expansion
The new unit represents an investment of over ₹480 crore, bringing the cumulative investment in the Malanpur facility to over ₹850 crore. Spanning 65 acres, the plant has been operational since 1991 and has now evolved into Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing facility. The expanded lines are capable of producing up to 4,000 soap bars per minute, significantly increasing production efficiency and capacity. The facility will produce a wide range of products, including soaps, hair colours, and household insecticides.
Strategic Importance and Future Outlook
Nisaba Godrej stated that the expansion is expected to generate a turnover of INR 3,800 crore once fully operational. The facility is designed with a strong focus on environmental responsibility, adhering to IGBC guidelines. This expansion is a key part of GCPL’s strategy to strengthen its FMCG leadership, anchored in principles of scale, sustainability, and Aatmanirbharta. The company also highlighted its role in creating employment opportunities and its contribution to the local economy and public health initiatives.
