Tata Power: Commissions 190.5 MW Solar FDRE Project in Rajasthan

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned its 190.5 MW Solar FDRE project in Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan. This project is part of a larger 460 MW FDRE contract and includes a 115 MWHr Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project is expected to supply power to multiple discoms and marks a significant step towards India’s renewable energy goals.

Major Renewable Energy Milestone Achieved

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has announced the commissioning of its significant 190.5 MW Solar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project located at Kalasar, Bikaner, Rajasthan. This development is a crucial part of the larger 460 MW FDRE project under the SJVN FDRE Tranche-1 contract.

Enhanced Grid Reliability and Energy Storage

The newly commissioned project integrates advanced energy storage technology, featuring a 115 MWHr Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This system is designed to strengthen grid reliability by providing dispatchable renewable power. TPREL’s successful execution of this project, despite complex challenges like compressed timelines and global supply chain disruptions, highlights its engineering and execution capabilities. The project also incorporates new technologies such as Harmonic Filter Bank and Static Var Generator systems.

Contribution to National Energy Goals

The 190.5 MW Solar FDRE project will supply energy to key discoms including Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC), Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL). With this commissioning, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has now reached 12.4 GW, with approximately 6.9 GW operational (5.6 GW solar and 1.3 GW wind). The company remains committed to India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and furthering Tata Power’s vision for a sustainable energy future.
