CAMS: Partners with IIT Madras to Boost FinTech Innovation

Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) has renewed its partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) through the CAMS IIT Madras FinTech Innovation Lab (CIFIL). This collaboration focuses on driving next-generation innovation in financial technologies, supporting startups, industry research, and professional education in the BFSI sector. The renewed pact aims to strengthen India’s digital financial ecosystem.

Expanded FinTech Innovation Lab

Computer Age Management Services (CAMS) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have extended and expanded their collaboration under the CAMS IIT Madras FinTech Innovation Lab (CIFIL). Launched in 2022 as part of CAMS’ CSR initiatives, CIFIL aims to drive innovation in financial technologies, foster startup development, conduct industry-driven research, and enhance professional education.

Focus Areas for Next Phase

The renewed partnership will concentrate on emerging areas within FinTech, including AI in financial services, digital payments, blockchain and tokenisation, cybersecurity, Regulatory Technology, WealthTech, InsurTech, digital lending, data analytics, and financial inclusion. CIFIL will also work on expanding its research portfolio, developing intellectual property, and facilitating technology transfer and commercialisation of research-led solutions. A new MoU was signed on August 12, 2026, formalizing these upcoming initiatives.

Industry-Academia Synergy

Mr. Anuj Kumar, Managing Director of CAMS, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in creating an intersection between industry expertise and academic exploration. Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, highlighted the partnership’s potential to accelerate growth and build cutting-edge fintech solutions for India’s financial ecosystem. The initiative aims to provide students with practical exposure through research projects, internships, and hackathons.

Developing Future Talent

CIFIL is also expanding its talent development initiatives through professional education programs, including a Professional Certificate Programme in FinTech and a Certificate Programme in Personal Financial Planning. These programs are designed for professionals, entrepreneurs, and students to gain insights into emerging technologies and financial services models. The lab provides a platform for industry partners to collaborate with IIT Madras faculty and researchers on business and technology challenges.
