Zen Technologies has secured contracts totaling ₹289 crore from the Ministry of Defence for upgrading its Anti-Drone Systems (ADS). This upgrade, driven by operational feedback, emphasizes the need for indigenous solutions adaptable to evolving drone threats. Zen’s in-house designed ADS ensures rapid system enhancements, surpassing foreign-sourced limitations. The upgrade addresses hardware and software vulnerabilities, reinforcing India’s defense infrastructure against emerging threats. The project is slated for completion within a year.
Significant Contract Awarded
Zen Technologies has been awarded two major contracts from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, totaling ₹289 crores (including GST) for the upgrade of its Anti-Drone Systems (‘ADS’). The projects are slated for completion within a year.
Addressing Evolving Drone Threats
The upgrades directly address operational feedback from missions, where evolving drone threats have underscored the urgent need for adaptable systems at both hardware and software levels. Zen’s ADS, entirely designed and developed in-house, enabled immediate validation of new requirements and rapid system enhancements capabilities.
Indigenous Design Imperative
Component-level changes and rapid upgrades are structurally impossible with foreign COTS systems, which require vendor approval and cannot be fundamentally altered. In contrast, indigenous procurement empowers the Indian armed forces to dictate changes and improvements at operational speed. Global incidents confirm the urgent need for complete, indigenous command over every component from physical hardware to software.
Preparing for Future Threats
Drone technology and threats are rapidly evolving, with hostile actors employing swarms and advanced AI capabilities. The company emphasizes that continuous system modernization is crucial for India’s security. With IDDM platforms like Zen’s ADS, India gains the agility to continually anticipate, adapt, and defend against future threats.
Leadership Perspective
Mr. Ashok Atluri, Chairman and Managing Director of Zen Technologies, stated, “Recent operations have made it clear the pace at which our defense systems evolve determines our ability to secure the nation… Buying Indian-designed, developed and manufactured products is not an option, it’s a requirement for survival as drone and cyber threats keep evolving.”
