Vodafone Idea Faces Penalty for Service Quality Standards

Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has been penalized by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) with a ₹6,00,000 fine for failing to meet service quality benchmarks. The penalty arises from shortcomings identified in June 2025 related to access and broadband service standards. Vi is currently reviewing the order to determine its next steps. The announcement was made on February 4, 2026.

TRAI Imposes Fine

Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has received an order from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) imposing a financial disincentive of ₹6,00,000.

Reasons for the Penalty

The penalty was levied due to the company’s failure to meet the benchmark of the Quality of Service parameters in different service areas during the month of June 2025. The shortcomings pertain to Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024.

Company’s Response

As of February 4, 2026, Vi is reviewing the order and evaluating the next steps in this matter.
