Vedanta Reduces Stake in Hindustan Zinc Limited to 60.71%

Vedanta has announced a reduction in its stake in Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) to 60.71%. This change follows the sale of 4,75,77,066 equity shares, representing 1.13% of HZL’s total issued and paid-up equity share capital, through a stock exchange mechanism on January 28 and 29, 2026. The transaction was executed via an offer for sale and brings Vedanta’s holding down from its previous level.

Reduced Shareholding in Hindustan Zinc

Vedanta has reduced its shareholding in its subsidiary, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), to 60.71% of the total issued and paid-up Equity Share capital. This is a result of a recent transaction where Vedanta sold a portion of its stake in HZL.

Details of the Transaction

On January 28 and 29, 2026, Vedanta executed a sale of 4,75,77,066 equity shares of HZL, each with a face value of ₹2. This represents 1.13% of HZL’s total issued and paid-up equity share capital. The sale was conducted through a stock exchange mechanism via an offer for sale.
