The block, which spans 532.747 hectares and is at the G2 level of exploration, is strategically important for the Company’s Aluminium business. This development marks a crucial step in securing raw material supply through strategic backward integration, effective as of February 27, 2026.

Securing Key Mineral Resource Through Auction

Vedanta Limited formally announced on February 27, 2026, that it successfully participated in an e-auction conducted by the Government of Odisha for the grant of a Mining Lease. The auction centered on the Karnapodikonda bauxite block, located in the State of Odisha. Following the qualification stage, the Company proceeded to the live e-auction phase.

Designation as Preferred Bidder

The Company confirmed receiving the official notification designating Vedanta as the ‘Preferred Bidder’ for this valuable asset. This confirmation was officially received by the Company at 04:20 pm IST on the date of the announcement.

Block Details and Strategic Importance

The Karnapodikonda bauxite block is confirmed to be at the G2 level of exploration. The total area covered by the block is substantial, measuring 532.747 hectares. Management emphasized that securing this block is vital, as it ‘fits into strategic backward integration for Company’s Aluminium business’, ensuring a stable supply chain for its core operations.
