Thomas Cook (India) has expanded its experiential hospitality brand, Nature Trails, by launching its 6th resort, Nature Trails Ashoka Resort, in Hampi, Karnataka. This move aligns with the growing preference for slow, mindful, and experience-led holidays focused on heritage and nature. The new resort is situated near Hampi’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, offering immersive travel experiences designed around local culture and landscapes.
Nature Trails Deepens Network with Hampi Launch
Thomas Cook (India) Limited announced on February 27, 2026, the expansion of its Nature Trails portfolio with the addition of its 6th resort, Nature Trails Ashoka Resort, located in Hampi, Karnataka. This expansion caters to the increasing domestic travel trend prioritizing deep connections with nature, history, and local traditions.
A Soulful Retreat Amidst Heritage
The Nature Trails Ashoka Resort is strategically nestled amidst Hampi’s unique boulder-strewn landscape, offering sweeping views of areas once central to the Vijayanagara Empire. Designed around the philosophy of slow and immersive travel, the resort aims to provide a peaceful escape while remaining accessible to Hampi’s key heritage sites.
Accommodation options are diverse, ranging from Superior Rooms and Classic Rooms to eco-friendly Bamboo Cottage Rooms and a dormitory for group travellers. A key feature highlighted is the resort’s signature hillside swimming pool, noted as one of the longest in the region.
Curated Experiences and Dining
Dining facilities include Archana, an open-air, eco-friendly multi-cuisine restaurant, and Grills by the Pool. Guests are encouraged to participate in curated experiences such as visits to the UNESCO World Heritage monuments, Anjanadri Hill, ancient temples, spice plantations, and guided nature walks and monsoon trails.
The resort also offers venues suitable for meetings, weddings, and social gatherings, supported by facilities like complimentary Wi-Fi and 24-hour front desk assistance.
Strategic Accessibility
The Hampi resort offers convenient access to key locations like Gangavathi (approx. 3 km) and Hampi town (approx. 22 km). It is accessible via Hubli Airport (approx. 170 km) and Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (approx. 340 km), making it an attractive option for various traveller segments.
Management Commentary
Mr. Mahesh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Thomas Cook (India) Limited, stated that the addition of the Hampi resort deepens the company’s focus on experience-led stays that encourage slower, more immersive travel. The resort reflects the Nature Trails philosophy of thoughtful hospitality, designed to be both enriching and restorative for the modern domestic traveller.
Existing Nature Trails Network
Prior to the Hampi addition, the Nature Trails portfolio already included five resorts across different states:
- Durshet, Kundalika, and Sajan in Maharashtra
- Ponda in Goa
- Rishikesh in Uttarakhand
This Hampi launch follows the recent opening in Rishikesh, with several more additions planned for the portfolio in the near term.
