Tata Power Commissions 765 kV Transmission Lines in Uttar Pradesh

Tata Power has commissioned 765 kV Mainpuri-Bara and Mainpuri-Unnao transmission lines in Uttar Pradesh, spanning 574 CKM. This enables large-scale power evacuation and strengthens the Northern Grid. The project, part of the South East UP Power Transmission Company Limited (SEUPPTCL), will facilitate the evacuation of over 3,000 MW of thermal power, improving grid stability and supporting Uttar Pradesh’s energy security.

Uttar Pradesh Transmission Lines Commissioned

Tata Power has successfully commissioned two critical 765 kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission corridors in Uttar Pradesh. This milestone significantly strengthens the northern region’s power transmission network and improves grid reliability across the state.

Project Details

The commissioned corridors include Mainpuri-Bara, spanning 380 circuit kilometers, and Mainpuri-Unnao, covering 194 circuit kilometers. These lines were developed under the South East UP Power Transmission Company Limited (SEUPPTCL) project.

These lines form a critical backbone for reliable power flow within Uttar Pradesh and across the northern grid. The project will facilitate the evacuation of over 3,000 MW of thermal power generated within the state.

Project Execution

The project required over 42,000 metric tonnes of tower steel and 6,900 kilometers of conductor stringing. Construction involved navigating railway lines, rivers and existing transmission corridors, while adhering to environmental and regulatory requirements.

Expanded Transmission Portfolio

With the commissioning of these two 765 kV corridors, Tata Power now has 5,312 circuit kilometres of transmission lines operational. Additionally, 1,997 circuit kilometres are currently under construction. This expansion highlights Tata Power’s role in modernizing India’s high-voltage transmission backbone.
