TP Solar Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has reported record production figures for solar modules and cells. The company manufactured 2.9 GW of solar modules and 2.8 GW of solar cells in the first nine months of FY26. Notably, cell manufacturing in Q3 FY26 saw a fivefold increase compared to the same period last year.
Unprecedented Manufacturing Performance
TP Solar Limited, a key subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy, has demonstrated exceptional manufacturing output. Between April and December 2025 (the first nine months of FY26), the company achieved a production of 2.8 GW of DCR solar cells and 2.9 GW of solar modules. Of the total modules produced, 2.4GW were DCR modules, and the remaining 0.5 GW were ALMM modules.
Q3 FY26 Highlights
The third quarter of FY26 (October-December 2025) saw significant gains. TP Solar manufactured 940 MW of solar cells, a substantial increase from the 196 MW produced in Q3 FY25, representing a nearly 5x year-on-year growth. Module production reached 990 MW, compared to 927 MW in the same quarter of the previous year, an approximate 7% increase. This enhanced output reflects the company’s improved operational efficiency.
Advanced Manufacturing Facility
TP Solar operates a state-of-the-art 4.3 GW Solar Cell and Module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The facility is notable for its inclusive workforce, with women comprising approximately 80% of the total employees. Tata Power, via TPREL, has invested nearly ₹4,300 crore in this facility, highlighting its commitment to boosting domestic solar manufacturing.
Technology and Alignment with Net-Zero Vision
The Tirunelveli plant is equipped with advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies, producing both ALMM-certified and DCR modules. This facility is a step towards supporting India’s Net-Zero carbon emissions targets.
