Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 1 GW DCR-compliant solar project for SJVN. The project, located in Bikaner, Rajasthan, will supply clean power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. It is expected to generate 2,454.84 Mn units of green electricity annually and offset 1.74 Mn tonnes of CO2 in its first year. The project uses approximately 2.4 Mn modules.
Largest Solar Project Delivered
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned SJVN Limited’s 1 GW (1,000 MW AC/1,400 MWp DC) DCR-compliant solar power project. This marks the largest solar project commissioned by TPREL to date.
Project Details
The project is powered by DCR-compliant solar modules manufactured at TP Solar Limited, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu with approximately 2.4 Mn modules installed. The facility integrates advanced DCR-compliant cells, mono bifacial DCR modules, and high-performance inverters. It is expected to generate around 2,454.84 Mn units of green electricity and is estimated to offset nearly 1.74 Mn tonnes of CO2 in its first year.
Economic and Environmental Impact
The project provided employment to over 300 local workers and enabled the development of more than 25 local vendors. The project’s capacity has been allocated to key state utilities—500 MW to Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited (RUVITL), 300 MW to Jammu & Kashmir Power Limited (JKPL), and 200 MW to Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL).
Tata Power’s Renewable Capacity
With this commissioning, TPREL’s third party utility-scale RE project capacity stands at 4.9 GW. TPREL’s total renewable utility-scale capacity has reached 11.6 GW, including 4.9 GW executed as third-party EPC. Currently, 5.8 GW of Tata Power own capacity is operational, comprising 4.7 GW of solar and 1.1 GW of wind energy. Additionally, 5.8 GW is under various stages of implementation.
