Suzlon Secures First 248.5 MW Wind Order from ArcelorMittal

Suzlon has secured its first 248.5 MW wind order from ArcelorMittal. This order is part of a larger 550 MW hybrid project in Gujarat and marks Suzlon’s fourth wind order for decarbonizing steel production, bringing their contribution to approximately 1,156 MW for green steel capacity in India. The company will supply 79 S144 WTGs with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each for the project.

New Wind Energy Order

Suzlon has announced securing its first 248.5 MW wind energy order from ArcelorMittal Group through its Renewable Energy entity in India, as stated on January 28, 2026. This achievement contributes to the decarbonization of steel production, positioning Suzlon in powering approximately 1,156 MW for green steel in India.

Project Overview

This 248.85 MW order is a segment of the larger 550 MW hybrid project located in Gujarat, designated for captive use by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel facilities in India. Suzlon is set to supply 79 S144 WTGs, each having a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. The project will be executed in Bachau, Gujarat.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, expressed pride in partnering with ArcelorMittal. He emphasized that renewable energy has become a competitive and viable contributor as the steel sector accelerates its journey toward decarbonization.

JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, welcomed ArcelorMittal as a valued partner. He highlighted that the project aligns with Suzlon’s strategic focus on the EPC segment, aiming to increase its share to 50% of their overall order book.
