Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has announced a change in its top leadership. Chairman and Managing Director Shri Amarendu Prakash has officially resigned from his post, effective April 1, 2026. Following his departure, the company has appointed Shri Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel), to hold the additional charge of the Chairman and Managing Director role for a period of three months, starting from April 2, 2026, until a regular incumbent is appointed.
Leadership Succession Plan
The leadership transition at SAIL follows the formal resignation of Shri Amarendu Prakash, who held the position of Chairman and Managing Director. His resignation was approved by the government and became effective as of the end of April 1, 2026. This change marks a significant shift in the company’s executive management.
Interim Charge Assigned
To ensure operational continuity, the Ministry of Steel has entrusted Shri Krishna Kumar Singh, the current Director (Personnel), with the additional responsibilities of the Chairman and Managing Director. This interim arrangement is effective from April 2, 2026, and is scheduled to remain in place until July 1, 2026, or until a new regular appointment is made, whichever occurs earlier. The transition is designed to maintain stability and ensure an orderly changeover in the company’s leadership team.
