The Chief Minister of Assam inaugurated SJVN’s 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project, developed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). The project, located in Dhubri, Assam, is a significant step in expanding renewable energy capacity in the region. The project is expected to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,58,270 tonnes.
Dhubri Solar Project Inauguration
On January 15, 2026, the 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project, developed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Assam. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key dignitaries, including ministers from the Assam government and senior officials from SJVN.
Project Details
The solar power project, located in Dhubri, Assam, was developed by SGEL on 330 acres of land provided by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) under a 28-year lease. The project was awarded to SGEL on February 16, 2023, with a tariff of Rs.3.92 per unit.
Financial and Environmental Impact
The EPC cost of the Dhubri Solar Power Project is Rs.367.44 crore. The project is designed to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year at a Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 23%, with an estimated cumulative generation of approximately 3,230 MU over 25 years. The project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,58,270 tonnes.
Strategic Significance
This project is the first large-scale solar project in the state of Assam and also SJVN’s first operational project in the North Eastern Region. The foundation stone was virtually laid by the Prime Minister on March 4, 2024. The completion of the project underscores the company’s commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity and achieving national objectives of energy security and sustainability.
