Samvardhana Motherson International has appointed Gandharv Tongia as the new Group CFO, effective November 15, 2025. He succeeds Kunal Malani, who will transition to President – Group Strategy & Transformation to spearhead initiatives towards Vision 2030. This strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s leadership and focus on future growth. Hemant Barge has also joined the group as Chief Procurement Officer.
Leadership Changes
Gandharv Tongia has been appointed as the new Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Designate, with the formal appointment effective November 15, 2025. He will succeed Kunal Malani, who will be elevated to President – Group Strategy & Transformation, also effective November 15, 2025. This transition is aimed at driving efforts to achieve Vision 2030.
New Strategy Lead
Kunal Malani was instrumental in the creation of Motherson 2.0 as part of Vision 2025. He has helped steer the company through the COVID pandemic, enabled sustained 2.5x growth over the last 5 years, allocated capital, and helped integrate over 20 acquisitions. He also ensured financial discipline, which helped the group achieve an international investment-grade category with an “AAA rating” in India, and an “A rating” in Japan.
New Chief Procurement Officer
Hemant Barge has joined the group as Chief Procurement Officer. He previously served at Tata Motors Group for over 3 decades in various capacities, including leadership roles in sourcing, manufacturing, and post-acquisition business transition.
