Reliance Power Appoints Zohra Chatterji as Independent Director

Reliance Power has announced the appointment of Ms. Zohra Chatterji as an Independent Director, effective October 28, 2025. Ms. Chatterji, a retired IAS officer, brings decades of experience in government and administration. Her appointment is aimed at strengthening the company’s board and providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.

About Zohra Chatterji

Ms. Chatterji is a retired IAS officer (1979 batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre) and former Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. She has held significant leadership roles in both central and state governments. These roles include Secretary & Director of Industries, Labour Commissioner, Secretary & Director General of Tourism, and Secretary & Project Director, Basic Education in Uttar Pradesh.

Extensive Experience and Expertise

During her career, Ms. Chatterji pioneered initiatives such as e-Suvidha and Lokvani as Principal Secretary, IT and Industries (UP). At the national level, she served as Member Secretary of the National Commission for Women and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, becoming the first woman Chairperson and Managing Director of Coal India Limited. She also spearheaded the establishment of the Hastkala Academy in New Delhi as Secretary, Ministry of Textiles.
