Premier Energies Limited announced the launch of India’s first Zero Busbar (0BB) TOPCon Solar Cell at Intersolar Gandhinagar on February 26, 2026. This technology replaces thick silver busbars with ultra-fine silver lines, significantly reducing silver consumption and shading losses while boosting power output. The innovation promises enhanced durability and superior performance for solar modules, reinforcing the company’s leadership in next-generation solar technology.
Premier Energies Unveils Breakthrough Solar Technology
Premier Energies Limited, one of India’s largest integrated solar manufacturers, has announced a major technological milestone by unveiling the nation’s first Zero Busbar (0BB) TOPCon Solar Cell. The launch occurred at Intersolar Gandhinagar on February 26, 2026.
This new architecture marks a structural shift from previous 10BB and 16BB architectures. The 0BB design substitutes thick silver busbars with a dense matrix of ultra-fine silver lines for current collection, leading to several key improvements:
- Significantly reduces silver consumption.
- Minimizes shading losses.
- Delivers higher power output compared to conventional designs.
- Enhances mechanical flexibility and improves resistance to micro-cracks.
Executive Commentary on Redesign
Sudhir Reddy, Chief Strategy Officer at Premier Energies, emphasized the significance of the development, stating that “Zero Busbar is not an incremental upgrade, it is a redesign of solar cell engineering.” He highlighted that lowering silver usage while improving efficiency strengthens both performance economics and sustainability in solar manufacturing.
Chandra Mauli Kumar, Chief Production Officer, added that scaling OBB required significant manufacturing precision and innovation, enabling the company to deliver enhanced crack tolerance and consistent performance even in extreme temperatures.
