Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), as informed to the stock exchanges, has been declared the successful bidder for a significant new transmission scheme in the state of Maharashtra. The award was made through the transparent mechanism of Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
Project Details and Structure
The project is specifically titled the “Network Expansion scheme in Maharashtra for removal of Transmission constraints in Pune Region-I (765/400 kV AIS Pune East)”. A key aspect of the agreement is the operational structure, as POWERGRID will undertake the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. The official Letter of Intent (LoI) confirming this success was received by the company on 11th February, 2026.
Scope of Work
The scope of work is substantial, comprising the establishment of a new AIS Substation in Ahilyanagar District. Furthermore, the project includes laying 765kV and 400kV transmission lines across Maharashtra, alongside necessary bay extension works at existing Sub-Stations within the state.
